Who are we?
We are a dating camp established in 2022 and participating in multiple texas regional burns. Our primary goal is to help people make in-person connections without the use of electronics (except for our Polaroid camera). By completing dating profiles (with pictures attached) participants help us assemble several binders that participants can browse. These profiles are burned in the effigy fire at the end of the event. We create a comfortable space for participants to write letters to potential love connections. We also deliver these love letters and offer assistance with writing them. We hold mingles and dating game event that vary from burn to burn.
Our philosophy: unlike Tinder, the main goal of participating is the gift of the letter while connection created is a wonderful bonus.

Your primary role would be to serve as an STM host—welcoming participants into our space and guiding them through our screen-free matchmaking process. You’ll greet visitors, set a warm and inclusive tone, and clearly explain how to create a profile, browse the binders, and submit or pick up letters from potential love interests. You’ll take Polaroid photos for new profiles, organize and maintain the binders as people register, and provide supplies for writing thoughtful messages to future crushes. Optional duties may include assisting participants with writing profiles or love letters if requested, and delivering those letters across the event.
STM shifts are typically about four hours long, with both daytime and evening opportunities available, and all team members are expected to contribute to either camp setup or teardown. We provide training so you’ll feel confident guiding participants through the process.
STM has historically been placed in central, high-traffic areas (placement is not yet confirmed), so expect steady engagement and lots of interaction. This role is perfect for social butterflies who love meeting everyone—and equally great for those who shine when given a clear role, simple scripts, and a defined task.
